In partnership with Corà Wood Gabon, we have formed African Equatorial Hardwoods (AEH) which holds forestry assets and wood processing operations in Grande Mayumba, Guietso and Port Gentil.
Our forestry operations at Grande Mayumba and Guietsou entail harvesting both commercial and lesser-known wood species on a balanced, low impact and ecologically sustainable basis over a combined concession area of 443,000 ha.
Low impact and ecologically sustainable
Currently, higher value logs and peeler quality wood is sent to the main Port Gentil processing facility to produce veneers, plywood and kiln-dried sawn timber. A new processing mill is planned for Mangali, adjacent to Mayumba town, which is anticipated to process around 50,000 m3 of wood per annum. The processing of natural hardwoods at Mangali will ultimately be complemented by timber from plantation forests within Grande Mayumba for the regional construction industry in conformity with our long-term sustainability objectives.
By 2025, we will have completed full Forestry Stewardship Council sustainability certification, expanded our overall timber processing capacity to more than 150,000 m3 per annum and invested significantly in skills training, community support, R&D and market development. Our current compliment of +550staff members is anticipated to expand to over 1,000 within this period.
"Our vision is to develop a replicable model for innovative and sustainable forestry operations across Gabon and Africa’s wider equatorial region."— Stefano Corà, Director of AEH
We hold the rights to consolidate and sustainably develop a land area of 731,000 hectares in south west Gabon.
